Grid Mode

Grid mode is the default sequencer view. Each row is a track, each column is a step. Tap a cell to toggle it on/off. Drag across cells to paint multiple steps in one gesture.

You can switch between Grid and Tracker input modes in Settings → PATTERN INPUT.

Each track has its own independent step count. The default is 16 steps, but you can set any value from 2 to 64.

When tracks have different step counts, they loop at different rates — creating polyrhythms. For example:

  • Kick: 16 steps (standard 4/4)
  • Hi-hat: 12 steps (3/4 against the kick)
  • Percussion: 7 steps (odd loop creates evolving patterns)

The grid visually stretches or compresses to fit each track’s step count.

The toolbar at the top of the pattern editor provides these controls:

  • TMPL — apply a track template
  • KEY — select the root note
  • OCT — adjust octave offset
  • RND — randomize the pattern
  • VKBD — toggle virtual keyboard
  • LOOP — loop this pattern

To rename a pattern or change its color, use the Dock panel (left side).
